Aprofol is a Life Science start-up focussing exclusively on the role and effects of bioactive folates (not to be confused with inactive folic acid) in the body. Aprofol’s founder, Martin Ulmann, is a folate pioneer with 40 years’ experience and an excellent global network of Life Science experts.

Aprofol’s strength and point of difference is the identification of a range of applications for bioactive folates in chronic diseases which currently often cannot, or only inadequately, be treated. Following an initial phase of growing the business, the company’s founder sought help from Generis AG to scale up and further expand Aprofol.

The registration of several patent families has enabled a range of future folate-based product developments to be channelled via Aprofol patents. Building on this, the company has established its first strategic pharma-partnerships which are delivering impressive advances in product development.

Additionally, Aprofol succeeded in getting “Ocufolin forte” listed as the first FSMP eye vitamin product. Generis AG remains an important partner in Aprofol‘s growth as a business.
