IPI International Packaging Institute

Interdisciplinary Training in Packaging Technology

Initial Situation

Innovation in Interdisciplinary Training

The absence of an attractive, interdisciplinary suite of professional development in packaging technology led the sector to seek to launch its own bespoke, academically-accredited portfolio of training. The development should bring together the most important players in the market with experts from the sector and from the academic community.

The challenge for Generis AG was gathering all the stakeholders from the sector and the research community, as well as all relevant universities engaged in this field, around the table to shape the project, generate the necessary funding and implement the project.

Approach

Strategy, Fundraising, Implementation

The shared vision needed developing as a project and a broad base of sponsors found. Next steps were to develop the portfolio, establish the management and supervisory structures and identify premises. All stakeholders were assembled and a project group identified to specify the content of the training programmes.

In parallel, Generis AG worked intensively with sector employers on fundraising and succeeded in convincing the public sector of the economic benefits of establishing a university-level Institute locally and providing some funding for it. Once funding was agreed, work to create the Institute and its curriculum commenced.
