Generis awarded SDC mandate
June 16, 2016
Generis AG has received a mandate from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) for a project in China in 2016. As part of the Sino-Swiss Low Carbon Cities (SSLCC) initiative, Generis AG will lead a consortium of eleven Swiss companies from 2016 to 2019.
Marco Rhyner, Head of the new mandate at Generis AG, is looking forward to this interesting task: “Over the past few years, Generis AG has been gaining valuable experience in clean technology and working with the private and public sectors in China. Within the framework of the new SDC mandate, we can contribute our competences ideally».The Sino-Swiss Low Carbon Cities (SSLCC) mandate is a sub-project of SDC’s Global Program for Climate Change (GPKW) and is based on the United Nations Framework Agreement on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
The goal of the SSLCC project is to launch concrete projects in cooperation with Chinese cities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Thus, Switzerland contributes to the reduction of air pollution and other environmental problems, which are a result of China’s very dynamic economic development of the last 30 years.
During the Chinese-Swiss state visit in the beginning of April 2016, Federal President Johann Schneider-Ammann and China’s President Xi Jinping signed a joint declaration to establish an innovative strategic partnership. The Sino-Swiss Low Carbon Cities is the first concrete cooperation project within these partnerships. The first cooperation agreements with the cities of Shanghai, Chongqing, Chengdu and Guangzhou were already signed during the visit of the Swiss Federal President to China.
