Discussing the cities of the future at the Sino-Swiss Economic Forum Beijing

At the Sino-Swiss Economic Forum Beijing Generis managers met with high level government and business leaders from Switzerland and China. In exchanges with Federal Councillor Johann N. Schneider-Ammann, members of the Swiss economic delegation and Chinese and Swiss urban development experts, Generis Beijing’s CEO Marco Jaggi introduced opportunities for Swiss knowhow in the development of the China’s rapidly expanding urban centers.

The bi-annual Sino-Swiss Economic Forum Beijing 2018 put a special focus on the influence of digitization and increased mobility in trade and in the future development of cities. Federal Councillor Johann N. Schneider-Ammann, Head of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research, and Mr. Qian Zhai, Director general of the Ministry of Commerce of the P.R. of China were among the more than 350 guests from the government and business sector of both countries.

Apart from strengthening network ties among political and company leaders, Generis managers participated in exchanges around questions on the future development of cities. Federal Councillor Johann Schneider-Ammann took great interest in Generis Beijing CEO Marco Jaggi’s introduction of the world’s first autonomous bus, fully operating within the public transportation system of Schaffhausen, Switzerland. The bus and other cutting-edge technologies are building blocks in Schaffhausen’s innovative concept of becoming an “implementation region” for smart city applications.

In discussions with Chinese and international experts for urban development, Marco Jaggi and Generis Beijing COO Wang Ze emphasized the necessity of adapting holistic regional development concepts benefiting from Swiss best practices and technologies in China’s rapidly developing urban areas. Sharing experiences from their local regional development projects for the Beijing Olympics, for various tourism destinations and for industrial zones.
