Talent shortage analysis
for Swissmechanic Schaffhausen and the Schaffhausen Industrial Association
Talent shortage? We act.
Project
More and more industrial companies in Schaffhausen are struggling to find qualified professionals. Technical apprenticeships remain unfilled or aren’t offered at all. Is this because young people are less interested in these careers? Or are companies less likely to offer training? Generis was tasked with finding answers.
On behalf of Swissmechanic Schaffhausen and the Schaffhausen Industrial Association, we carried out the project “Action Analysis on the Skilled Labor Shortage.” The goal: to understand what’s missing in technical skills education and take targeted action. To this end, over 750 young people, parents, teachers, and vocational trainers were surveyed. Concrete, actionable ideas were developed in workshops with industry representatives. The result: a clear plan with defined measures and responsibilities.
And it’s already having an impact: technical careers are becoming more visible, schools and companies are working more closely together, and new financing solutions are being discussed. This is how we’re creating new opportunities — for young talent and for the Schaffhausen business hub.
