Active management of employment zones
for the Canton of Schaffhausen
More space. More opportunities.
Project
Every business that is established or expanded in Schaffhausen creates jobs and pays taxes. Yet land for building is scarce, expensive, and often subdivided in less-than-optimal ways. Ownership structures can be unclear. Many municipalities lack contact with the private sector, and therefore, also lack access to a solution.
Generis tackles this issue as part of our economic development work. Our aim is to make available space in industrial and commercial zones both visible and usable. Initial action recommendations led to external project management by the land use planning offices – with generis supporting with strategy and action plans.
Generis advises municipalities and companies on the search for and allocation of industrial and commercial land, creating new opportunities for SMEs and businesses. We also support implementation – such as facilitating land swaps between municipalities in order to merge fragmented plots or develop demand-oriented zones. A digital land database supports these processes, providing an up-to-date overview of available parcels. This project enables companies to efficiently find suitable land, and municipalities to offer development opportunities in a targeted manner.
